Cycling 1250 miles!

In August (2015), OCD-UK’s Ashley Fulwood, patron Professor Paul Salkovskis and member Dr Lisa Marnell will Ride4OCD. They will cycle 1250 miles from John o’Groats to Land’s End (JOGLE), through Scotland, England and Wales in aid of the national charity, OCD-UK.

The Charity
Ashley, Lisa and Paul are cycling for OCD-UK, which is the only user-led national charity for both children and adults affected by Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

The 2013 Ride4OCD team

The Reason
Find out why Ashley and Paul are giving up much of 2015 towards training for August’s Ride4OCD, and why they and Lisa will give up three entire weeks for OCD-UK.

The Route
Starting out from John o’ Groats in Scotland, the team will zig-zag across Scotland before cycling through England and Wales, covering a distance of 1250 miles.

  • Professor Paul Salkovskis

I think that the day-after-day slog reminds me of the day-after-day slog people with OCD have to endure, but that with every slog if it’s towards an achievable goal, then there is satisfaction in progress.

  • Dr Lisa Marnell

I am getting involved because OCD-UK is an important charity that deserves to be recognised for all the hard work that goes on in providing people with the knowledge and encouragement to seek out treatment working towards OCD recovery.

  • Ashley Fulwood

My motivation for getting involved is to show those struggling with OCD that recovery is possible, that life doesn’t have to dictated by OCD. Cycling is a bit like OCD, we have to work at it to achieve our objective.
